crosses

It appears that many like me were left wondering what's with the crosses and the book? And now finally SFU is doing something about it. The vice president had this to say about it:

For some people, particularly internationally, the crosses were seen to identify us as a private religious institution as opposed to ...

The logo on the left is the Simon Fraser University logo. Another strange thing about it is the Nous Sommes Prets (We Are Ready) on the ribbon. Anyhow, it seems that for the time being we are just getting rid of the daggers. Good start!

I asked all of my friends (internationally and of different faith than Christianity) who have or are attending SFU regarding this PR stunt. Most of them agreed that they feel no compelling reason that SFU is "deemed" a religious school, by the presence of crosses on its arm.

It's simply a PR stunt, and that's where our tuition goes! Stupid administrators. Why couldn't they spend money on meaningful things, like reducing tuition fees? Why?

i'd agree that it shouldn't be at the top of their list, yet, i disliked the crosses and i am happy they are leaving!
